Treviso and the Prosecco hills

Treviso, a city that encapsulates the history, culture and identity of an entire region.

The territory of Prosecco, an internationally renowned wine, extends over the hilly strip of the province of Treviso, between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. A series of hill chains that run from the plain to the Pre-Alps.
If Conegliano is considered the cultural centre of the Prosecco area and home to the Oenological School and research institutions, Valdobbiadene, which every year hosts the Mostra Nazionale dello Spumante (National Sparkling Wine Exhibition), constitutes its productive heart.

The history of Prosecco is an ancient one and several hypotheses have been put forward regarding its origin. The most accredited one identifies Prosecco with a wine known at the time of the Roman Empire, Pucino, coming from the Karst hills framing the gulf of Trieste to the north, where there was a locality of the same name and a very similar vine called Glera.
Catalogues made in the hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene at the beginning of the 20th century show the existence of various prosecco biotypes.

So the Province of Treviso continues to amaze its visitors with art, tradition and great respect for the territory.

With sporting events such as the Giro d’Italia, cultural events and exhibitions in the historic centre, and food and wine to be envied… we can say that this is a city to be experienced at 360°.

Now all that remains is to… toast!
